Dhaba Maash Daal Fry

Ingredients:

  1. Mash Daal - 1 cup

  2. Minced ginger - 1 Tbsp

  3. Garlic - 5 cloves

  4. Oil / Ghee - To your liking but traditionally this daal is made with generous amount of Oil / Ghee

  5. Onion - 1

  6. Tomatoes 3

  7. Salt

  8. Tumeric 1/4 tsp

  9. Corriander powder - 1 tsp + 1/2 tsp

  10. Red Chilli powder - 1.5 tsp

  11. Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp

  12. Cumin - 1/2 tsp

  13. Green Chillies - 6

  14. Green Corriander and lemon


Method:


  1. Wash Maash Daal, then add 1 Tsp minced ginger and salt and add enough water to tenderise it. Make sure that it becomes soft but not mushy, Turn off the flame when it is 90% tender.

  2. Take Oil in frying pan/Karhai, Add onion and saute it

  3. Prepare your tomatoes by blending them in Chopper with garlic cloves.

  4. Now add this tomato mixture in frying pan and fry with oil

  5. Fry it till water evaporates and you get a smooth onion tomato gravy

  6. Add tumeric 1/4th tsp and dry Coriander powder 1 tsp and fry

  7. Now add 1.5 tsp Red Chillie powder and fry

  8. Now add your already tenderised daal

  9. Fry it and then add some water to cook it with masala

  10. Add green chillies while cooking.

  11. Now your daal is ready, mix 1/2 tsp gram masala, 1/2 tsp corriander, 1/2 tsp crushed cumin.

  12. Mix and turn off the flame. The khusboo at this point will be amazzzinnnng.

  13. Garnish with julienne ginger, green chillies, green coriander and lemon juice.

  14. Your Dhaba Fry Maash Daal is ready, Enjoy!! :)
